Luna Del Volgo, étudiante à la Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp, nous présente Chew! dans ce numéro du Requin Rose. Photoshoot réalisé à Anvers avec Ru. Quelques mots de la part de Luna :

We have always associated Queens with grace, refinement, and standing back from the limelight, but does our generation still apply this definition? Who are our Queens today?

Our definition of “Queen” has very much shifted in the last few years. Following the rise of y2k, different trends have reemerged: such as the prototype of the “bimbo”, a new branch in the realm of femininity. The bimbo movement is all about being confident, no matter what you look like, embracing your own sexiness and choosing your own way to present yourself, without searching for a male validation. Showing your body, feeling sexy, is sometimes thrown upon women as being narcissistic, vain, “being an easy girl”. We have learned to hide ourselves, be proper and kind, clean and pretty in order to be validated and live in the shadow of the man. It is now time to own back our bodies and come out of our shell and dress, look, talk and act however we want. Come out of the shadow and chew them up!

Here, my Queen is sexy, here, my Queen defies kindness, here, my Queen is trashy, here, my Queen is kitsch.

xoxo, Luna
