I go by the name Nykita, and I’m an AI artist. My art emerges from the depths of imagination, disconnected from the real world. Therefore, I prefer to keep personal details about myself undisclosed. However, I can reveal that in real life, I am a photographer with extensive experience.

I’ve been into AI-generated images for a while now. My first project involved creating rough images in Unreal and then turning them into paintings using an app. Fast forward two years, I decided to give it another shot with Midjourney. While experimenting, a brilliant idea struck me – why not generate photo series from the vast collection of images and turn scattered pictures into captivating series? This concept was a game-changer for me. Finally, I could bring my ideas to life without the hassle of assembling a team or worrying about costs. I became obsessed with creating these images, dedicating every free second for two whole weeks to bring my visions to reality. The best part? Since it all happens on a Discord channel, I can work on it anywhere. I love the absolute freedom it gives me to share my creative visions instantly.

I believe that real photography and AI-generated images don’t compete as much as one might initially think. They have little in common apart from the final result. Similar discussions arose when 3D became more prevalent, but with time passing, we can generally say that both are being utilized. The same will happen with AI – it will fit well in some cases and not in others. Let’s not forget how easy it is to take a photo and the numerous options a real photoshoot provides. The relationship between a photographer and a model, the subtle nuances and serendipitous moments that create a masterpiece, the unique essence captured in the moment – it will be challenging for AI to fully replace that human touch.

To be honest, this process feels like being high. You transition from one idea to another, from one world to another. You immerse yourself completely and create hundreds of images, searching for the ones that truly reflect my versions and emotions. It can take hours to complete such a series. Most of the time, I listen to hard techno music and block out everything around me. Surprisingly, it shares similarities with a real photoshoot. You get numerous results, and they are often serendipitous. You have to make a multitude of decisions in a short amount of time.

My biggest inspiration is likely the experiences and observations I make in real life. However, I must also say that my followers sometimes serve as inspiration. I am consistently amazed by the fascinating and unique individuals who follow me. They often create exceptionally good content themselves.

AI itself doesn’t typically provide me with inspiration. However, there have been instances where an unexpected image or a glitch in the generated output sparked inspiration for a new series. I have to immerse myself in understanding how the AI system works and guide it in the right direction to achieve the desired results. Often, I find that the setting is right, but the generated outcomes may not be to my liking. It’s often a blend of luck and a battle with the AI to obtain the desired outcome.

I first came across the term “Seapunk” on the TikTok channel “The Algorithm.” I had completely forgotten about this whole topic, but when I saw the video, it immediately triggered memories of my childhood and my cousin’s toys. This aesthetic instantly inspired me, and I began creating my first art pieces. I can’t say that I restrict this theme solely to femininity, but I find the entire aesthetic to have a sense of vulnerability, something that needs to be protected. I believe that’s what creates the intense connection to the ocean and the Seapunk theme.
